"If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it- then I can achieve it."
- Jesse Jackson
Hello 2nd graders and parents! I am so excited to be teaching another year at Saint John XXIII! I was born and raised in Healdsburg, California, a beautiful town in Northern California surrounded by vineyards. I knew I wanted to become a teacher since Kindergarten and my experiences in being a student at St. John the Baptist School and Ursuline High School, made me realize that I wanted to teach in a Catholic school.
After graduating from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies and a Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development Teaching Certificate. Go Mustangs! I was blessed with the opportunity of teaching first grade at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Santa Barbara, California. I taught first grade for 5 years at Our Lady of Mount Carmel before moving to Arizona. I continued to teach first grade at St. Daniel the Prophet in Scottsdale for a year and also taught a 4/5 multi-grade and third grade for 3 years at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School in Phoenix. Continuing professional development is important to me, and received my Certified Autism Specialist Certificate in the summer of 2016.
My husband, Eric have been married for 9 years this July and have 2 wonderful boys, Brady and Dylan. They help me realize how important it is to have fun and laugh at the silly stuff. When I'm not playing trucks or super heroes with Brady and Dylan, I love to bake, read, watch movies, listen to music and visit our families in California and Iowa.
Working with primary students is my true passion. There is nothing more important than helping a child build a solid foundation of educational skills and to have fun doing it! I've loved it so much, that this is my 20th year of teaching! I’ve had the honor of being part of the Saint John XXIII Community for the last nine years. I’ve met some wonderful families and amazing kids and can only imagine all the wonderful minds that I’ll be working with this year.
If you have any questions or simply want to say hello, please don't hesitate to email me at [email protected].
God Bless!
